Tencent Headquarter - Binhai Building, with a total investment of 1.8 billion RMB, covers an area of 18,650 square meters, and has a construction area of nearly 350,000 square meters. Built with the concept of "interconnectedness, connecting everything," the building features three "connecting layers" that link the 248-meter-high, 50-story South Tower and the 194-meter-high, 41-story North Tower, facilitating resource sharing for internal facilities.
Binhai Building is Tencent's largest "product" to date, encompassing cutting-edge technologies such as smart buildings, Internet + construction, and Internet + intelligent connectivity. This futuristic and tech-inspired architectural marvel has rightfully become a prominent new landmark in Shenzhen.
As China's largest internet company, Tencent's headquarters attracts numerous government and corporate delegations each year for tours, offering insights into Tencent's development history and corporate culture, along with the opportunity to experience innovative products. In response to the significant volume of visitors, Tencent selected PCI Company to create a tailored high-tech, intelligent tour guide system.
Based on Tencent's specific needs, PCI Company implemented the ControlMax intelligent navigation system. This system, centered around the QSC Q-SYS ecosystem, incorporates audio reinforcement systems, control systems, indoor perception systems, and wireless microphone systems. It perfectly crafted the exhibition navigation system for the first and second floors of Tencent Binhai Building, achieving comprehensive coverage of floor information. This system finely divides various exhibition areas, including Tencent Data Center, Tencent Cloud Exhibition Hall, QQ and WeChat Exhibition Hall, Interactive Entertainment Exhibition Hall, and Artificial Intelligence Exhibition Hall, ensuring independent and automatic operation for each area.
To achieve full coverage of information in all exhibition areas of Binhai Building without signal blind spots and precise division of irregular areas based on exhibition requirements, PCI Company's engineers used the powerful QSC Q-SYS Core 110f processor as the core for audio reinforcement and control. The indoor perception base stations communicate with the Core host through the network, precisely dividing multiple irregular areas using pre-edited Lua scripts. The wireless microphone system consists mainly of wireless microphone receivers, wireless microphones, power amplifiers, distributors, and antennas, enabling wireless microphone signal reception throughout the building and resolving the issue of wireless microphone sound coverage in multiple areas. The entire system's terminal devices are connected via Ethernet, simplifying installation and ensuring stable operation. This system completely overturns the traditional positioning system, which requires the installation of receiving base stations at each positioning location. Only one base station is needed to achieve position recognition within a 30-50 meter range.
The tour guide's precise positioning and automatic triggering of various area effects
In various tour tasks, the tour guide is the prioritized person leading clients or leaders on tours. Therefore, the system's automatic triggering device is placed on the tour guide. The trigger, with a card-like appearance, is carried by the tour guide. Upon entering any exhibition area, it automatically triggers the area's audio devices, implementing automatic welcome sounds, automatic scene switching, fade-ins and fade-outs, automatic sound following, and preset functions for multi-system intercontrol. Simultaneously, the tour guide's voice enters the area's sound reinforcement device, playing independently through QSC AC and AD series ceiling speakers, avoiding mutual interference between multiple areas. This achieves the function of linking the corresponding area's audio reinforcement system based on the tour guide's position.
QSC's Core host inherits all the functions of the Q-SYS ecosystem, with the host containing hundreds of audio plugins and extremely powerful audio processing capabilities. The Q-SYS software includes the programmable script language Lua, allowing customization and development of various business processes according to user requirements.
Tour guides can work simultaneously to meet more tour needs
In daily work, due to the busy business, there may be multiple tour guides leading clients or leaders to tour different areas simultaneously. PCI Company's engineers easily solved this problem. The system allows tour guides to independently explain, reinforce sound, and automatically trigger specific scene effects in the first and second-floor exhibition halls and different exhibition areas, without being restricted by the tour route.
The indoor perception system consists of multiple indoor perception base stations and multiple mobile beacons. Mobile beacons and perception base stations communicate wirelessly, with the highest accuracy reaching 50 centimeters. It can accurately perceive the location of personnel with mobile beacons, automatically triggering the system when entering the corresponding area. Each beacon corresponds to a tour guide, allowing multiple guides to work simultaneously in busy times in different areas without mutual interference. Priority control can be achieved, allowing only one beacon to work in each area simultaneously to ensure the consistency of sound in each area.
The ControlMax intelligent navigation system provides visitors to Tencent's headquarters with a more advanced, intelligent, and user-friendly experience. After project delivery, it has successfully supported numerous leadership receptions and corporate tours. The system's intelligent control and clear sound have created a more high-tech experience for the entire tour process, embodying the building's construction philosophy. Tencent has highly praised the ControlMax intelligent navigation system.
